Snapchat Update Expands Emoji, Adds ‘Travel Mode’ To Lower Data Usage
Are you seeing any different Snapchat trophies in your trophy case?

Just a month after Snapchat rolled out a major update to its app to remove the classic holding to view requirement, the company is rolling out a smaller update today.
The app now has a so-called “Travel Mode” that users can turn on to prevent video content from automatically downloading on to your smartphone. There’s now an icon on the top right of the camera screen (after you’ve taken a photo or video) where you pick from the traditional emoji we’re all familiar with – no special Snapchat ones yet. Instead of auto-loading when you swipe to the “Stories” tab, users must tap each one whenever the phone is not connected to WiFi. Here’s an idea of just how much data Snapchat can consume. As Snapchat’s data usage doubled this winter because of new features, users increased the amount of time they spent accessing the app over Wi-Fi instead, according to data from the tracking firm Mobidia. More options are good and while this isn’t going to change anyone’s life, it’s a nice addition to a solid social app. The Play Store still shows version 9.13.0.0 from July 28th, so it doesn’t appear the update has gone live yet for Android, but stay on the lookout.
Add more emojis to your Snaps!
The update, which seems to be well-received by teens on Twitter so far, lets you add a bunch of emoji to your snaps.

Lastly, the update lets Snapchat users see how many people viewed their individual “My Story” – a 24-hour feed of photos and videos – by tapping the eye icon.
