Amanda Alvear was at Pulse with a group of friends and on Snapchat when the gunshots erupted. In the final clip of the video, Alvear’s face can be seen as she hears the gunshots.

“Whenever I was in the auto with her, she always had the music blasting, and I guess she got the love of music from my father and uncle who are DJs”, her aunt Jennifer Flores told The Orlando Sentinel.
In a status, he wrote: “People keep asking? If you needed to have a night out, she was there by your side to help you forget reality, even if just for a few hours”.
Another worshipper said she recently saw Mateen dancing at his sister’s wedding, a mixed affair that was open to both men and women. I just hoped that she did the right thing and escaped.
Alvear’s chilling Snapchat story recorded during the shooting has since gone viral.
Despite the unimaginable tragedy, Brian Alvear says her spirit is keeping them strong.

When the gunfire finally stopped, 49 were dead and dozens critically wounded.
Officials said 39 of the victims died at the venue and 10 more died at hospitals in the city. “I called his cell phone and he would not answer”. At just five seconds long, it is of her confused and anxious face as gunshots echo in the background.
“So far as we know at this time, his first direct contact was a pledge of bayat (loyalty) he made during the massacre”, said a USA counterterrorism official. “That was the last conversation”. He also said it was unlike her to not be in touch with family, so he and his parents were immediately concerned Sunday when they hadn’t heard from her.

“His name has not come up yet and that’s scary”, she said. “Just like I lost a sister”.
