Those two will be chased by Johnson, the second-ranked and arguably hottest player in the world following wins at the U.S. Open and WGC-Bridgestone.

“I think I’m going to be the most hated man in Canada tomorrow, but it’s going to be a lot of fun trying to figure it out”, said Snedeker, who had yet to meet du Toit.

No Canadian has won the Canadian Open since Pat Fletcher in 1954. Albert Murray, a Canadian also born in England, won in 1908 and 1913. He was Phil Mickelson, the now 46-year-old great of the game who went on to prove that his breakthrough as a 20-year-old student at the 1991 Northern Telecom Open was no fluke.

Snedeker started strong with five straight birdies, beginning at the second hole, and finished with an eagle after slugging a 378-yard drive downwind and sticking a lob wedge approach to seven feet behind the hole.

Another bogey at the par-3 12th meant Day was back to even-par for the round but at the very next hole, Day birdied the first par-5 of the back nine by finding the green in two shots.

Charley Hull and surprising England grabbed the lead in the UL International Crown, and the United States advanced with a sweep against Japan.

Jodi Ewart Shadoff and Holly Clyburn routed Pornanong Phatlum and Pornani Chutichai of Thailand 7 and 5.

Stacy Lewis and Gerina Piller each closed out wins for the USA before Reid missed a birdie putt on 16, handing the decisive victory to Kerr. He’s close to being out of exemptions for this year and just hasn’t figured out how to bring his major championship form – T21 and T15 in two majors this year – to the regular Tour events. The Americans won a silver trophy, and each of the players took home a crown and $100,000 apiece.

Miguel Angel Jimenez opened a four-stroke lead in the Senior British Open, shooting a 7-under 65 in mild conditions to fall one short of matching the Carnoustie Golf Links record. He had an 11-under 205 total after opening 70-70, putting him in position for his first major title. (69), Tom Byrum (71) and Joe Durant (72) are tied for second. He saved par on 18 with an 8-footer.

Aussie wins U.S. Junior: OOLTEWAH, Tenn. He birdied holes 16 and 18.

The 38-year-old has some work to do if he’s to come out on top Sunday, but Wheatcroft played his way into contention in the third round. After the delay, Lee converted the birdie putt.

History isn’t working in the 21-year-old’s favor.

Day is two under for the tournament alongside Luke List, who went from top of the leaderboard to a share of 28th position following his five-over-par 77.

Alongside Day sharing 28th is Lismore’s Rhein Gibson, who carded a 70 on Saturday and is yet to shoot over-par, while a shot back from them is Stuart Appleby (3-under 69) and John Senden (2-under 70).
