Snedeker takes 1-stroke lead at Canadian Open
He then birdied the par-5 16th, par-4 17th and par-5 18th to post at 12-under 276.

Watch live coverage of the final round of the RBC Canadian Open on Sky Sports 4 HD from 6pm on Sunday.
Heading into the final round, Golf Canada National Amateur Squad member Jared du Toit holds a share of second with Dustin Johnson, one shot off the lead at the 107th playing of Canada’s National Open Championship. “I had a long talk with my golf teachers about what was missing, what was the missing component of the formula to win”, Vegas said. “Put myself in a position to win a golf tournament and to play the way I did today is disheartening to say the least”.
A guy most of us had never heard of less than a week ago is that close to putting to rest that other guy we bring up every year, Pat Fletcher, the most recent Canuck to win this tournament back in 1954.
“That would be extremely weird, I don’t know”, Rahm said after carding a 1-under 71 to keep him near the top of the leaderboard Friday at Glen Abbey.
Taiwan also wrapped up a spot in the fourth session before a storm delayed play for the day with two Pool A matches still on the course, leaving two spots open for Sunday’s 10 singles matches. I’m confident that he’ll figure it out eventually, but the PGA Tour grind can be a humbling experience even for the best young players. The Spaniard eagled the 16th hole.
Canadian amateur Jared du Toit, Spain’s Jon Rahm and American Kelly Kraft were a stroke back on 138.
“You know, tomorrow, hopefully get some putts to roll in”. I still feel like I’m playing well, driving it really well and that’s the big key for me.
“The wind today nearly feels like it’s a little bit heavier and it’s affecting the ball a little bit more, and it’s a little bit different direction”, said the long-hitting American, who was tied for ninth at last week’s Open Championship. Rahm and du Toit were teammates at Arizona State University last season and were roommates when the team was on the road. “I’ve just got to try and enjoy myself first more than what I have the last two days”. “There’s a lot on the line tomorrow”. He birdied the 16th and closed with two pars.
But better yet, du Toit, who hails from Calgary, can still win this thing.
What it means: Snedeker is an eight-time PGA Tour victor who came out on top at Glen Abbey in 2013 and last claimed victory this past February with arguably the round of the year through eventually unplayable winds at Torrey Pines. A victor earlier this season at Torrey Pines and someone with his name already etched on this tournament’s trophy, he’s among the game’s more likeable players and a fan favourite wherever he goes.
Savannah’s Brian Harman shot a 9-under par 63 and finished at 6-under par, finishing in a tie for 23rd and winning $61,360.
An Arizona State senior from Kimberley, British Columbia, Du Toit was trying to become the first Canadian victor since Pat Fletcher, born in England, in 1954 at Point Grey in Vancouver, British Columbia.

Du Toit made the turn tied for the lead at 7 under then had a triple-bogey 8 on No. 2 and a bogey on No. 5.
