‘SNL’ Recap: Tina Fey and Amy Poehler Recreate Taylor Swift’s ‘Bad Blood

Clinton Christmas: Hillary Clinton goes to sleep wearing pantsuit pajamas and gets a spectral visit from her 2008 self, who also felt cocky about her chances in December 2007… before Barack Obama.

As 2015 Clinton, McKinnon is gearing up for a night of “productive dreaming” when she hears “strong, yet feminine laughter”. However, despite the fact that Tina Fey and Amy Poehler both pulled hosting duties last night for the usually delightful episode that happens just before Christmas, this episode just didn’t quite pack the punch that it should have.

SNL will return January 16 with Star Wars: The Force Awakens and Girls star Adam Driver as host.

There are some awesome squads out there, and more doper ones… As Poehler and Rudolph’s characters complained about Isis coming down the chimney instead of Santa, talked about how much they loved their “stupid” husbands and marveled at the “classy” Philadelphia accent of Fey’s character, you could see Poehler nearly start cracking up a couple of times. There were some great moments throughout this, mostly because everyone got some screen time. In the video, Fey and Poehler sing an ode to their squad, which consists of childcare workers, gynecologists and a confused Amy Schumer.

Of course, Tina and Amy returned to the Weekend Update desk, though sadly only for two short jokes at the end.

Seeing Poehler play Hillary again was enough to inspire immediate joy, but watching her and McKinnon play off each other was even better. Confident and even at ease, she was an equal onstage with Fey and Poehler.

Leave it to Tina & Amy to take the “trophy wife” phenomenon to its darkly hilarious conclusion, as a trio of male game show contestants meet their progressively younger second wives.

With party poopers like the wonderful Maya Rudolph, you know you’ve come to the right place.

Tina Fey and Amy Poehler monologue – Some nice banner between the two, but we don’t really think the whole opening song worked.
