Snopes: No Organization Behind ‘Day of Rage’ Protests
Police departments nationwide are anticipating “Day of Rage” protests, following the announcement by an account claiming to represent the hacker group Anonymous.

According to the NY Post, the Defense Department put out an “AllCon”, or All Concerned briefing to post commanders in the US Northern Command, telling soldiers “Please be advised the [US Northern Command] has issued a threat advisory informing DOD personnel that a series of protests has been scheduled to be conducted across the United States on July 15, 2016”. Snopes dug into the likelihood that there will be a “National Day of Rage” planned by Anonymous.
While the video lists potential protest sites throughout the country, that list does not call for actions in Baton Rouge itself. It called for 36 cities to participate in response to killings of civilians by police.
The St. Louis Police department is commenting on the “Day of Rage” protests scheduled for Friday evening. The “Day of Rage” video has received more than 260,000 views in four days – and will no doubt double, triple, or quadruple that viewership by July 15.
Once again we are calling upon the citizens of the United States, in conjunction with the Black Lives Matter movement as well as other civil rights activists, to participate in a day of action against the injustices of corrupt officers. We WILL NOT submit to another failure of judgement by those who failed to indict Darren Wilson and prosecute the officers who were involved in the death of Freddie Gray. Your local 7/11 or Dollar Tree did not cause the deaths of these young men.
Even if a protest does occur, the video explicitly calls for non-violent protests and condemns “every form of rioting”.
The narrator refers to the deaths of five Dallas police officers last week as “a heinous incident that has no place in our fight for justice and equality”, but says the “entire global collective” of Anonymous is outraged over the deaths of Sterling and Castile.
