The National Weather Service is forecasting a dramatic warmup across lower MI this week that will take temperatures well into the 50s by the weekend.
By Tuesday afternoon, the temperature in the Capital Region should rise by almost 60 degrees from early Monday, but the Capital Region will have to get through some nasty weather first. The switch means your morning drive will be icy. Local roads were snow covered and slippery.
Winds will be from the southeast at 10 to 20 miles per hour, with gusts up to 30 miles per hour.
Temperatures were so low in some spots, utilities were knocked out.
“It doesn’t look like it’s going to be big snow storm for us because of the changes over to rain”, Kines said.

Separate tractor-trailer crashes within miles of one another shut down a major artery, the Thruway, in both directions for a time early Tuesday just northwest of Albany. Casey also said snow in the area will melt, which may add two-tenths of an inch to a half inch of rain and increase flooding chances in low-lying areas. The National Weather Service forecasts Phoenix to have a record high of 89 on Tuesday. Total daytime snow accumulation of 1 to 3 inches possible.
