The advisory for Tippah, Alcorn, Tishomingo, Prentiss, Union and Benton counties is in effect from 9 p.m. Monday to noon Tuesday.

The NWS is predicting that a strong cold front will move through from north to south Monday afternoon and Monday night. Light to moderate rain possibly starting across parts of southeast Texas. Wind chills Monday night and Tuesday morning will be as low as 20 degrees below zero.
It will be cold during the day today as well, with temperatures well below average, according to the weather service.
The NWS reported its confidence level in freezing precipitation, which could include freezing rain, sleet and snow, as “high” as of late Monday afternoon. Wind-chill values will fall as low as minus-10 degrees, the weather service said.
The relentless cold Arctic air will continue to remain overhead through much of the upcoming week. Watch those bridges, overpasses and elevated surfaces if you are headed out tonight and tomorrow morning!
“Even with.5″ to 1” of snow on the ground, temperatures won’t be as bitter and reach the upper 20s and low 30s. It starts by Tuesday afternoon or evening and ramps up after the evening commute. A chance of snow returns Thursday night and temperatures begin to drop again. A slower system, held back by a developing system east of the mountains, might mean more moisture and higher snow totals Tuesday and early Wednesday.
