So, Is Frank Ocean’s Album Coming on November 13?
In May, the Chicago rapper – and “good friend” of Frank Ocean – teased the LP in an interview with Complex, saying, “His new album is wonderful”. Well the thoughtful people of Snapchat have released filters specially designed for your anguish.

Ever since his 2012 debut album Channel Orange skyrocketed to the top of numerous year-end lists, Ocean has been under pressure to exceed expectations on his second album, and also just to release a second album already. Malay, of course, seems to have played a pivotal role, telling Pitchfork earlier this year that “Frank’s exploring different vibes completely on this album”.
Fans of Frank Ocean are upset after they were led to believe that the singer would finally drop his new album Boys Don’t Cry on Friday (August 5), though the album was never released.
So it’s come to this: vast swaths of the internet waiting with baited breath, watching Frank Ocean mess around in a woodworking shop, counting down until the release of his much-delayed new album (exclusively on Apple Music, because of course).
Frank Ocean is back; sort of.
Because we’ve been waiting FOUR years for a new album from Mr. Ocean, literally everyone latched onto the report from the New York Times.
The company has begun rolling out filters poking fun at the long wait for the R&B crooner’s album. This is how a r/hiphopheads hype thread for “Boys Don’t Cry” has almost 9,000 comments since last night, all hypothesizing the plans of a man who clearly has figured out how to remain just illusive and mysterious enough to remain interesting.
“I got two versions”. Albums and DVDs used to release on Tuesdays, but in the digital age artists like Beyoncé, Kanye West and Kendrick Lamar have been known to release albums on a moment’s notice.

Fans anxious for new music have eagerly been watching for the drop since midnight (in all USA time zones too, natch) to see if the album would appear on Apple Music.
