The Special One took a backseat, watching as his charges under the touchline command of Sam Allardyce and Robbie Williams, plotted a 3-2 comeback win over the Rest of the World (RoW) team.

The One Direction star has come up with an unusual replacement for his former bandmates, Louis Tomlinson, Liam Payne and Harry Styles.

The teams had plenty of support, with Vicky Pattison sharing a photo of her with Rochelle Humes and Kirsty Gallacher at the ground and snaps of her watching the match, in aid of Unicef.

Singer Louis Tomlinson hopes his son Freddie Reign will be a footballer or a musician when he gets older.

‘I’d like to lie and say it’s not important for me to beat Niall tomorrow, ‘ he told The Sun. “But it is actually very, very important I beat him”.

Wright scored the first goal of the game, wowing with a shot from more than 30 yards away.

He said: “Jose will be with us tomorrow, it will be great to see him”.

The annual event is the brainchild of Robbie Williams and Jonathan Wilkes, and is being broadcasted live on ITV as in previous years.

The Only Way Is Essex star Mark Wright dabbled.
