Democratic presidential front-runner Hillary Clinton asserts that the 2016 election will be a watershed moment for the United States.
“This may be the opportunity to explain what we’ve tried to do in development and global partnerships”, Clinton wrote to her State Department aides on September 22, less than two weeks after the Benghazi attack.

Sens. Tammy Baldwin, Barbara Boxer, Maria Cantwell, Dianne Feinstein, Kirsten Gillibrand, Heidi Heitkamp, Mazie Hirono, Amy Klobuchar, Claire McCaskill, Barbara Mikulski, Patty Murray, Jeanne Shaheen and Debbie Stabenow – every other Democratic woman senator – spoke on Clinton’s behalf, offering praise of the woman many of them once served with.
“We all feel that way”, Jiloty wrote.
The evening fundraising event on Capitol Hill brought in a chunk of campaign cash ahead of an often hard fund-raising month in December.
She also kept up with some of the political strategists who worked in her husband’s administration and would go on to run her 2016 campaign, replying to birthday wishes from her future campaign chairman, John Podesta, and requests for career advice from campaign chief financial officer Gary Gensler. On that trip she also visited Mongolia by stopping in the city of Ulaanbaatar briefly to “talk about deepening economic relations”, according to a State Department briefing.
Aides forwarded Clinton congratulatory messages even as she was still on the stand testifying before Congress in January 2013. And did I, you know, help rebuild after 9/11?

An endorsement from Warren, who is one of just six Democrats in the upper chamber yet to back Clinton, would be a powerful validator for either candidate. Conversely, the Clintons have long eyed Warren as a political threat. “Stupid question”, her inquiry to top aide Philippe Reines began. Diligently, he offers: “If you don’t have Comcast, I can look it up”. Dianne Feinstein. “You come to the conclusion that this is really the only candidate out there that has an opportunity because of the knowledge that’s in her brain to solve some of the problems that we face as the most indispensable nation on earth”.
