Mrs. Berrera will also attract attention from Principle Skinner – after he learns she is also a fellow war veteran – and the storyline will see the hapless headteacher and his nemesis Bart fight for her affections.

It looks like Bart Simpson may be paying more attention in school now that he has a new teacher in the form of Sofia Vergara if this picture on Twitter is anything to go by!

Mrs. Krabappel was voiced by Marcia Wallace, who died in 2013.

The Simpson-ised version of Vergara is based on the actor herself.

Bart’s interest in his teacher is sparked by drinking a milk substitute laced with hormones.

“We have a situation where Bart doesn’t have a regular teacher so she may or may not come back.” executive producer Al Jean told the weekly.

Principal Skinner, it seems, is hot for teacher as well.

Jean added that Mrs. Berrera will be miles away from Bart’s previous teacher, Mrs. Krabappel, in the sense that the former will be more tolerant of Bart’s antics. She feels Skinner is a wounded soul that she wants to take care of.

Her episode of The Simpsons will air in season 27, which begins in the US on September 27.
