Soldier magician Richard Jones wins Britain’s Got Talent final

Fellow judge Amanda Holden added: “I’m absolutely delighted because when magic first started on Britain’s Got Talent it was rubbish and after 10 years he has done such a great job”.

The popular trickster won the public vote during Saturday’s grand final after wowing the judges and viewers with his magic act, which paid tribute to military man Fergus Anckorn.

Rounding out the contestants are impressionist Craig Ball, who won the last semi-final, and schoolgirl singer Jasmine Elcock, the golden buzzer choice of hosts Ant and December.

Somehow, they managed to beat the Chaser on this occasion, which resulted in each contestant being awarded £4,000 to take home – which isn’t exactly a huge amount when it comes to this show.

“It’s unbelievable, thank you so much”, said Jones after winning the show.

“You are so original and we like to embrace people from other galaxies on Britain’s Got Talent”.

The soldier chose a very special trick for the final of BGT.

Saturday’s second most watched programme was BBC1′s Michael McIntyre’s Big Show with an estimated 2.8 million viewers and a 17.6 per cent audience share. Earlier in the series, Jones had been accused of “copying” tricks previously performed by Paul Daniels and seen on the America’s Got Talent series.

Last year’s runner-up, Jamie Raven, also appeared, although last year’s victor, Jules Dwyer and her dog Matisse, were noticeably absent from the line-up.

And it’s one that left the judges and the audience feeling extremely moved.
