Soldiers Repel Boko Haram Attack On Gulak Town In Adamawa

Nearly 450 schools have reopened in Borno state since October, more than 18 months after education was halted in the wake of an attack by Boko Haram militants on a boarding school in neighboring Yobe state in which they killed 59 students.

“They shot dead three people and burnt another to death in his home before abducting two women and three children and driving them away in the two vehicles to they took from the village”.

Witnesses said the gunmen shot indiscriminately at the villagers.

At least one soldier was reported to have lost his life when hundreds of Boko Haram insurgents launched an audacious attack on Gulak town in Adamawa State resulting to a fierce gun duel between the insurgents and Nigerian troops.

Ali Mallam Ali, a local chief, said most residents were still asleep when the incident occurred. “If not, why is it that the crisis is only in areas where they have oil”, he said.

“I called on General Buratai to do something as we have been telling the soldiers that the Boko Haram were so close to the village”, she said.

Buhari has vowed that, with the Nigerian military working at full capacity, Boko Haram will cease to exist on his watch by December.
