SpaceX founder, CEO and chief designer Elon Musk described it to reporters as a “revolutionary moment”. Monday’s launch was the first since SpaceX redesigned and upgraded the powerful rocket.

People in the Solimar Beach area were ordered to leave their homes but that mandatory order was lifted late Saturday afternoon, fire officials said.

So far no structures have been burned and no injuries have been reported, authorities said. Firefighters quickly responded to the blaze and by Saturday morning, more than 600 firefighters from agencies between Santa Barbara and Los Angeles aided in the firefight.

“We are hitting it with everything we’ve got”, says chief Norm Plott. A voluntary order was issued for the nearby Faria Beach community, which has 30 to 40 homes, fire officials said.

Officials relied on fixed wing aircraft and helicopters to make water drops to put out the fires burning in steep, narrow canyons in the mountains near the oil field where it was too unsafe to send firefighters.

As a effect of the fire mandatory evacuations in the Solmar Beach neighborhoods were carried out.

The Solimar Fire is pictured as the sun rises over the 101 Freeway in Ventura County on December 26, 2015.

Images from the area showed flames being whipped into the sky by high winds as the fire burned surrounding hills and up against the 101.

A Red Cross shelter has been opened at the Carpinteria Veteran’s Memorial Building, located at 941 Walnut Avenue in Carpinteria, authorities said.

The highway, a major roadway in the region, may reopen in the afternoon, fire and police officials said. It started at 10:42 p.m. Friday six miles northwest of Ventura, north of the 101 Freeway.

Until then, north-northeast winds of 15 to 20 mph were predicted to decrease to 10 to 15 mph in the morning, but gusts could reach 30 mph. Both directions of Highway 101 was reopened shortly before 2 p.m. Saturday.
