Solo again faces domestic violence charges after court reversal
Hope Solo’s domestic violence trial will see new life after a Washington state appeals court reversed the decision of a lower court today, ESPN reports. It’s unclear when her trial will start, but she will have to answer to the charges that she likely believed were behind her.

The case stemming from the June 2014 incident was originally dismissed by Washington state’s Kirkland Municipal Court in January because Solo’s accusers failed twice to show up for interviews with Solo’s defense attorneys.
As we previously reported, Solo was accused of beating up her 17-year-old nephew and half-sister in a drunken rage at a house party in the Seattle area… allegations Solo adamantly denies. She has been outspoken and may have herself been the victim of domestic violence in an altercation with her now-husband, former National Football League player Jerramy Stephens, on the eve of their wedding, but he was not charged.
“She grabbed him by the head and she kept slamming him into the cement over and over again”, Obert told Outside the Lines. The accounts of her Obert and her son, however, contradicted Solo’s statements.
The report also says that Solo was so combative after her arrest that she had to be forced to the ground by police and that she insulted officers. City prosecutors appealed the decision, which is what brought it to the appeals court, and on Friday they ruled that the case should go back to trial. “So I came from behind her, and I pulled her over and, you know, to get her off my son”. This story was released right before the Women’s World Cup last June and sparked debate on if Solo should have played for the USWNT.

What happens now with the World Cup and the NWSL season in the rearview mirror yet with the Summer Olympics – in which the US women’s national team will pursue a fourth consecutive gold medal – squarely in view and less than 10 months away, is uncertain.
