Local media reported that the bus was carrying players and coaches from Broomfield Legacy High School, who were returning from a game in California.

Police were investigating the possibility she suffered a medical condition. She was one of three buses travelling outbound. Police spokesman John White said that the unnamed driver died on the scene.

In a statement, the Denver Health Medical Center stated that “five patients were transported to Denver Health, two patients are in critical condition, two patients are in serious condition, and one patient is in fair condition”. Her age and name have not yet been released by the Denver police, according to the Los Angeles Times.

The driver was killed and 15 students and 3 coaches were injured. Ten people were hospitalized and eight others treated and released, officials said.

An official with DIA tweets that all passenger pickups were taking place on Terminal West because of the crash on the east terminal.

Ramsey said players told him a coach was in the front seat and has serious injuries. They are also studying the bus for mechanical problems.

The bus driver had picked up 28 students, and four adults were on the bus, including the bus driver, DIA spokeswoman Stacy Stegman said.

Uninjured students gathered with parents inside the airport, the Post reported.

Legacy High School is in Broomfield, Colorado, and is part of Adams 12 Five Star Schools.

School officials told the newspaper that some of this week’s homecoming events were being postponed, including a “Powderpuff” football game that was planned for Monday evening. A crisis team was at the school Monday to help students.
