Some Dems push Sanders to exit after Trump secures nomination
Exit polling from the West Virginia primary Tuesday night found one-third of Sanders voters would cast their ballot for Trump over Clinton in the general election.

Donald Trump’s support has surged and he is now running about even with Democrat Hillary Clinton among likely U.S. voters, a dramatic turnaround since he became the Republican party’s presumptive presidential nominee, according to a Reuters/Ipsos poll released yesterday. Brandon Rottinghaus at the University of Houston told KTRH that could make things hard for Democrats to keep the White House.
Donald Trump and Hillary Clinton are running neck-and-neck in the swing states of Florida, Ohio, and Pennsylvania, according to a new Quinnipiac University poll.
It showed 41% Clinton versus 40% Trump, well within the poll’s 3% margin-of-error.
Recently, there was talk that if Sanders fails to get the Democratic nomination, he might team up with the Green Party and run for president on his own.
Coming off victory in the West Virginia primary, his 20th win of the primary season, Sanders’ campaign said on May 11 the Democratic Party would be courting “disaster” if it nominates Clinton as its presidential nominee. The poll shows one fifth of Clinton’s support is coming from GOP voters and that Trump is ahead with Cuban Americans…but not by much. Another Clinton edge is with blacks – she has trounced Sanders among black voters in key states like NY and Florida and wants to duplicate that here.
After a series of wins to end April that included a big victory in NY and the eastern seaboard states, Clinton has grown her delegate lead to almost 300 over Bernie Sanders.
Clinton needs to win just 14 percent of the delegates and uncommitted superdelegates at stake in the remaining contests, and she remains on track to capture the nomination in early June.
Decked out in a Sanders T-shirt, Avina, 24, who left his hospital job to help the campaign, was clutching a stack of computerized data that identified dozens of homes where potential Sanders supporters might be lurking.
Trump’s numbers surged after he effectively won the Republican nomination last week by knocking out his two remaining rivals, according to the poll.
The other 19 per cent of voters are undecided. With Clinton eager to save money for the fall, and Sanders’ fundraising slowing, it’s not yet known if voters will witness a last-minute barrage of TV ads. “It’s a no-brainer to get out to vote for Hillary to defeat Donald Trump, and then right below that are Hassan and Ayotte, which is why it should worry Ayotte”.
The Democratic presidential candidate along with her super-PAC supporters unleashed a clip showing the Republicans tearing Donald Trump.

“She has been in the public eye for decades, served in high office, and now she’s in a dead heat with Trump, in a race that everyone thought she would win easily”, said Carney, who has been critical of Trump.
