Some in GOP start seeing Cruz as best alternative to Trump
A day after displaying unexpected strength against front-runner Donald Trump with wins in two state nominating contests, the Texas senator warned of a “manifest uprising” if “a bunch of Washington dealmakers” attempted to “steal the nomination” from a candidate who was leading the race for delegates. This happens a lot in American politics: Ted Cruz got more delegates than Donald Trump yesterday though they won two states each. So.

Clinton had at least 1,117 delegates to Sanders’ 477, including superdelegates members of Congress, governors and party officials who can support the candidate of their choice.
Isaac Santerre, 19, arrived at his caucus site in Portland at 1 p.m. and finally got a chance to vote for his candidate, Sanders, at 5:50 p.m.
In the Republican race, the wary interest in Cruz from more mainstream Republicans is the latest unexpected twist in a nominating contest where talk of a contested convention or third-party candidate is becoming commonplace.
Sanders’ wins in the caucus states could offer him a boost after he was overshadowed by Clinton on Super Tuesday. “I mean, in the debate this week, Donald stood up there and said to Marco Rubio, ‘I agree with you, Marco”.
Ted Cruz isn’t interested in a brokered Republican convention.
Romney has stepped back into the spotlight at a moment of crisis and chaos for the Republican Party.
Trump made waves when he cancelled a scheduled Saturday appearance at the Conservative Political Action Conference near Washington, opting instead to hold a rally in Wichita, Kansas.
He congratulated the first-term Texas lawmaker on his wins Saturday, especially in ME, “because it’s very close to Canada”. And who also can represent conservative values and conservatives ideals. That is a problem for Sanders because the nomination could be decided by the large numbers of minority voters in the Democratic electorate.
Cruz particularly angered Senate leaders when he helped orchestrate the 2013 government shutdown, which failed in achieving the senator’s stated goal of defunding Obama’s health care reform law. Questions were also raised around Mr Trump’s large inheritance from his property magnate father, and failed business ventures such as a condo development in Mexico (where Mr Trump settled legal action), Trump Steaks, Trump Vodka and the airline Trump Shuttle.
This could spell trouble for Rubio who received a flurry of endorsements from mainstream politicians in recent weeks, in an effort to prop up his struggling bid that could come to an end when Florida votes on March 15, as it will be an embarrassment if the senator can’t win his home state. The territory’s three super-delegates have committed to Rubio.
Mr Trump, 69, has a substantial lead in the delegates needed to secure the nomination at the Republican National Convention mid-year. Many in the Republican establishment are apoplectic over whether anyone can stop Trump’s march.
Graham and Romney spoke on NBC’s “Meet The Press”.

“What we’re seeing is the public coming together, libertarians coming together, men and women who love the Constitution coming together and uniting and standing as one behind this campaign”, Cruz said in Idaho. Trump appeared on CBS’ “Face The Nation”.
