Song of the week: Missy Elliott’s back with ‘WTF’
If this is true, it will be her first original album in more than ten years.

During her break from releasing groundbreaking videos of her own the rapper produced and wrote a number of chart-topping, Grammy-nominated songs for artists like Monica and Jennifer Hudson.
With a career spanning over 20 years, WTF will be Missy’s first new single since 2012, where she released two singles with Timbaland called “9th Inning” and “Triple Threat” in that same year.
Her 1997 breakthrough hit ‘The Rain (Supa Dupa Fly)’, a languid slice of futuristic R&B, sounded like nothing else and the video, featuring Missy wearing a load of weird inflatable outfits, introduced her as a pop star like no other.
WIth this in mind, let’s take a peek at a few of her best music videos.

Ch-ch-check out Missy’s triumphant return with a little help from Pharrell (above)!!! Well, they might think of doing so once Missy Elliott and her label goes off contract. The concept for most of Missy’s videos are hers; she’s a creative. Missy and all of her dancers appear to be tripping balls as their heads morph and tounges swing around like drugged up pythons. Between the various talented modern dancers highlighted throughout and the directorial decision to depict Pharrell’s cameo by way of marionette puppets, the video plays like a celebration of NYC street performers. The insane video which is directed by Dave Meyers and Elliott, also features the “Get Ur Freak On” rapper putting on a few heavy moves.
