“Today we appeared before the court with a clean conscience”.
When a television reporter asked Sonia Gandhi if she was tense, the Congress President, who was then stepping into court, replied, “I am not afraid at all”. He said later that he had not opposed the bail but had told the court that conditions should be imposed on the Gandhis travel overseas since they “were in the habit of running away from the country”.
He also said that Asgar Ali Karbalai has expressed gratitude to Congress Unit Kargil for effectively organizing the protest. “Questionable conduct of petitioners needs to be properly examined at the charge stage to find out the truth and so, these criminal proceedings can not be thwarted at this initial stage”, the judge had said in his 27-page order. Sonia was also all smile and waiving as she walked into the court.
Subramanian Swamy, the BJP leader who filed the complaint, vowed to secure a conviction, calling the affair an “open and shut case”.
Congress communication department chief Randeep Surjewala called Swamy a “stooge” of Modi and party veteran Ghulam Nabi Azad said the Z category security and a government house for the BJP member were a reward for maligning the Gandhis. They have been summoned by the trial courtroom on prima facie fees of felony conspiracy, dishonest, felony breach of belief and dishonest misappropriation of property underneath related sections of the regulation.
As for the case known as National Herald Case which is being heard in a Delhi Court, there is not much to comment, he said.
“We will fight this legal battle in accordance with law and we will fight the political battle both inside Parliament and outside it”, he further added. The only accused in the case unable to appear in the court was Sam Pitroda as he was undergoing treatment in the United States.
The day started with Congress leader Digvijaya Singh posting a series of tweets accusing the BJP of launching a “sustained vilification campaign” against Nehruvian ideology. A senior Congress leader said the party would not budge from its three demands on the GST Bill. “The Congress party will continue to fight for the common man, the poor, the farmers and the labourers of this nation”.
I have so many friends in BJP.
The mother-son duo of Sonia and Rahul Gandhi was granted bail by a local court in New Delhi today that rejected Swamy’s opposition to the relief for them on the ground that they were influential and could flee the country.
