Sonos partners with Amazon, Spotify for enhanced music control
Several months ago, Sonos revealed plans to bring voice control to its popular home audio speakers. You’ll be able to control the company’s speakers from within any Spotify app. This is just awesome news. You can also look forward to some new user interface improvements (including new album pages) meant to get you to your music quicker and keep you listening. Given that Sonos doesn’t have an Alexa-capable microphone built in, you can only talk to your speakers through Amazon products. The Spotify app will also provide a shortcut to the Sonos app that will simplify the process of controlling music in the various rooms of your home.

Sonos is also announcing a partnership with Amazon, allowing you to control your speakers using Echo, Tap, or Dot and their Alexa voice assistant. You can even do this remotely, so if you’re in the auto and want a certain playlist or album to start in your living room, you can do that.
Part of being that platform is working with every service and platform available to users. We’re not totally sure when you’d want music playing if you’re not home, but it could be useful if you want to start pre-playing music before you arrive, or if you’re too lazy to connect to your own Wi-Fi. Already, Sonos does a pretty good job wth that.
In March, Sonos announced it planned to shift its priorities from simple music streaming over WiFi to a larger emphasis on voice control and paid streaming music services.

The Spotify features will be released in October while the Amazon integration is coming in 2017.
