It’s named PlayStation 4 “Pro,” and it’s meant to sit alongside existing PlayStation 4 consoles. While Microsoft’s 4K gaming console “Project Scorpio” won’t be out till next year, but their updated Xbox One features a 4K or UHD Blu-ray player. In comparison, Sony’s Slimmer console is spec’d the same way, capable of HDR gaming through a software patch, but not 4K. As for video streaming, you’ll be happy to know that Netflix and YouTube will both provide 4K content for the PS4 Pro.
Meanwhile, according to a report by Engadget, the new PlayStation 4 Pro will definitely be ideal for games with virtual reality or VR versions.
Yesterday, after much speculation, Sony finally unveiled the PlayStation 4 Pro, a beefed-up version of the PS4 that will bring 4K resolution, high dynamic range (HDR) visuals and better framerates to console gaming. If the PS4 Pro struggles this fall and winter, Sony’s dominance of the console battle may come to a quick end in 2017. If you want to be one of the first to own a PS4 Pro console, you need to pre-order it now.
We suppose whether or not you would actually need a 4K Blu-ray drive is up to you and how you use your console.
