Sony Boss Shuhei Yoshida Reflects On No Man’s Sky Launch
President of Sony’s Worldwide Studios, Shuhei Yoshida, didn’t really have Hello Games’ back when the subject of No Man’s Sky came up in conversation.

No Man’s Sky has been one of the great disappointments of the year, but ever since its release last month there hasn’t been a peep out of director Sean Murray; as fans complain about the large number of missing features that he promised prior to its launch. Murray further stated that he would be glad to discuss the possibilities about the new and powerful console hardware, however, he was not allowed to reveal anything about the “No Man’s Sky” in Xbox One version, Yibada reported. Yoshida said part of the problem might have been that Murray apparently did not have a PR person or team to help him determine what he should and shouldn’t say.
As Sony told Eurogamer when we reported on concern around No Man’s Sky’s reported use of a patented superfomula, Hello Games was the developer of the game and the publisher of the PlayStation 4 digital and PC versions.
Missing multiplayer was just one of the aspects of No Man’s Sky that disappointed players – here’s a list of other “missing” features, but also the lack of end-game content.
That’s kind of what most of us were saying from the get-go – someone should have been there to reign Hello Games in before the hype reached Molyneuxian levels.
“I am super happy with the game actually, and I’m amazed with the sales the game has gotten, so I’m not the right person to judge if it has “harmed” the PlayStation brand”, he said.
With all the criticism, you’d think that the No Man’s Sky developers would have come out and said something, but no – that didn’t happen.

Yoshida was bullish when asked if he thought the experience had harmed the PlayStation brand at all. “If anything, I am proud that people can play No Man’s Sky on PS4 as well as PC”.
