Sony forms new mobile gaming firm ForwardWorks
Describing its planned output as “full-fledged game titles”, the developer also said that the games would be based upon existing PlayStation IP and characters. This is because Sony has announced these plans exclusively for the Japanese and Asian markets, with no word on when would the western market see a launch.

As mentioned earlier, the new company will start operating on April 1, 2016, but the first game might not arrive on Android and iOS platforms until later this year.
The announcement was actually morphed inside a more broader one – formation of ForwardWorks Corporation, a company under Sony Computer Entertainment Inc. Rather, it is a social app that lets users create cartoon-like avatars – very much like the “Miis” you can create with the Nintendo Wii.
ForwardWorks will be led by Atsushi Morita, the president of the new company, and both Andrew House and Hiroshi Ueda will serve as members of the board.
Last week, Nintendo unveiled a new mobile app called Miitomo that will bring hits like Super Mario Bros.to smartphones.
A Sony Computer Entertainment spokeswoman declined to say when the first mobile game would be released or whether the company meant to charge for downloads of its smartphone games.
The move allows Sony to fill a gap in its game business and expand its PlayStation line beyond game-dedicated consoles.

Sony, however, has hinted that its mobile titles will be “full-fledged”, which makes us optimistic that they will be more universally appealing. The programme was closed a year ago.
