Sony has plans for a Ghostbusters sequel
It may have divided opinions but it looks like Ghostbusters is going to be getting a sequel. However, it’s the highest grossing live-action comedy in over a year with an estimated $46 million (topping “Ted 2” which opened with 33.5 million in July 2015). The film just debuted in the States as well and the opening figures were decent enough but still couldn’t scare off those pesky pets.

“I expect “Ghostbusters” to become an important brand and franchise”, he added.

The race to the top was a close one, as The Secret Lives of Pets raked in $50.6 million this weekend, bringing its worldwide total to $254 million. The stars that cast in the reboot movie include Kate McKinnon, Kristen Wiig, Leslie Jones, Melissa McCarthy, Charles Dance, Michael Kenneth Williams and Chris Hemsworth. I think this film will eclipse $100 million domestically and my bold prediction is that it might take $150 million domestically.
In North American box office, Sony’s all-female Ghostbusters opened in the No. 2 spot the over the weekend with $46 million, a lukewarm start considering the movie’s sizeable budget. “Audiences just wanted to go out and have a good time and as a new film in theaters it offered up something appealing and fun”.
In the scene after the credits have rolled, all four of the Ghostbusters are in their new lab at the original Ghostbusters firehouse headquarters (which they couldn’t afford before). It will likely inspire a new family film franchise, and is simply the latest in a long line of hits featuring talking animals.
