Sony invites users to test PS4 system software Beta
Sony has opened up registration for the System Software 4.0 Beta Test. That means anybody with a PlayStation 4 can enroll to try out a revamped version of the PS4 OS that hasn’t been released to the general public. You need to be 18 years or older, and you can register here for North America and here for Europe. The beta period will begin sometime in early August, according to the PlayStation Blog, although new features have yet to be disclosed. If you’re accepted, you’ll receive an e-mail with instructions on downloading the beta version of the system software 4.0.

During the beta test, you can roll back to firmware 3.55 anytime.
“You’ll need a PS4 console with an internet connection and a master PlayStation Network account”.
You can also sign up to the PlayStation Forums, that way you can help callout any bugs or hiccups that you find along the way.
Koller added, “Participants got to see all kinds of upcoming features before they were officially rolled out, like Events, Communities, and more”. Sony stated, “We’ll monitor forums throughout the beta, and it’s always valuable to hear your feedback”.
More details on what’s included in system update 4.0 will be revealed early next month, Sony says.

It’s possible that the new beta could reveal some top level features to help with the implementation of Sony’s new VR headset.
