Sony is giving free tickets to National Football League players to see ‘Concussion’
“It was lovely to spend time with him and watch how he blended those two concepts in his life”, he added.

It’s through this curious fascination with the dead that leads him to Mike Webster, a Hall of Fame football center who died in shame, having suffered from dementia and plunging into financial ruin.
With its corny 1980s vibe, “Concussion” isn’t a great movie – it’s formulaic and predictable, slathered with dopey musical cues and sprinkled with contrived movie-ish dialogue like, “I can’t tell whether you are more afraid of what you will find or what you won’t”. Observing slides of Webster’s brain under a microscope, Omalu found a concentrated buildup of tau protein, called neurofibrillary tangles.
Will Smith accepts the Hollywood Actor Award for “Concussion” onstage during the 19th Annual Hollywood Film Awards at the Beverly Hilton Hotel on 1 November 2015 in Beverly Hills, California. Serpico, Silkwood, Erin Brockovich, The Insider-watching cinematic Davids warn about out-of-control Goliaths has undeniable force. It was well-attended by celebrity fans; present as well are former football players, including Robert Hicks, formerly of Buffalo Bills, and Darrelle Revis who plays for the Jets as cornerback. Somewhere, somehow, many parents must answer the question: What would it take to say, “My son or daughter is not going to play”.
“So one of the things that we’re encouraged about is that the research that’s being done, the changes that are being made will filter down to other levels of football and other youth sports to make all youth sports safer”. I saw how someone could see it that way. “I would start to think about it too much, what’s being portrayed”.
“He took the brain home, he financed this research himself”, Laskas told FoxNews.com of Omalu’s curiosity. In a nation where football has become a major obsession, it was to be expected that the film would be controversial. There is also a love story.
“Concussion” also stars Alec Baldwin, Gugu Mbatha-Raw and Albert Brooks.
“You walk out of that movie you will be very proud and glad that you are an American, a place where you are allowed to experimented with my faith and science and look what turned out”, Omalu said.
Omalu’s courage to “step forward and speak” inspired Will Smith.
“Somebody sent me the link, and he said, Will Smith is doing a Nigerian accent in his film, and the haters will say his accent is not real, I say he sounds like a Nigerian with a concussion”, laughed the Philadelphia native. It’s not a feel-good movie, but it is a redemptive and hopeful one. “It’s people’s lives that we’re trying to do justice to their suffering”. And there’s a deep commitment to service and truth that Dr. Omalu has, and I like how it felt to wear that.
