Sony launches dedicated PlayStation Messages app
Well, about 15 hours later, Sony has released PlayStation Messages for iOS and Android.

And now, following its latest update, PlayStation App also lets you follow verified accounts of select developers, designers, producers, and community managers, and keep track of their activities in the app’s What’s New section.
Sony chose to create the messaging app after discovering that Messages was the most used feature of the PlayStation App. Engineers went on to build a standalone app that has a streamlined design, which allows users to access messages faster, without having to switch tabs. While the standard PlayStation app had built-in messaging functionality, it’s been split into its own app like how Facebook did with Facebook Messenger.
Use PlayStation Messages to instantly see who’s online and message your gamer friends and favorite groups from your mobile device.
Once downloaded, the new app will enable you to stay in contact with your PS4-using friends even when away from your console.
This all-singing, all-dancing app launched two years ago, providing a way to manage your downloads, control your PS4 remotely, buy game content from the PlayStation Store, and message your gaming friends.
Send text or voice messages as well as photos and stickers to your friends or a group with up to 100 players.
