Sony launches two new versions of PlayStation 4

Sony has commented on the PS4 Pro’s surprising lack of a 4K Blu-ray player, and you might not be happy with the response.

What can the PS4 Pro do?

However, the new console is not the only announcement we heard at the event. The company has also partnered up with Netflix to help them develop a streaming app that features 4K games for the new PlayStation 4 Pro. According to GameSpot, it will be launched on November 10, 2016 with a retail price of $400 in the United States or £349 in the UK and $560 in Australia.

The PlayStation Neo is now the PlayStation 4 Pro.

In another sign of this new reality, Microsoft Corp. unveiled the Xbox One S, a slimmer update to its Xbox One console, in June at the Electronic Entertainment Expo, where new consoles are traditionally unveiled. All existing PS4 games will work on PS4 Pro however in what Sony calls “Forward Compatibility”, regardless if they are patched or not.

In later comments to the presentation of PlayStation Meeting, Sony revealed that the feature of sharing or Share will benefit from the extra power of PlayStation 4 Pro. You can see the full specs here, and see the full list of games confirmed for support here.

The new standard Playstation will be available from September 15 priced at 299 dollars, and is aimed at attracting new users, Playstation boss Andrew House said.

More precisely, it is the x86-64 AMD Jaguar octa-core CPU that powers the new PS 4 Pro, along with 4.20 TFLOPS AMD Radeon GPU and 8GB of GDDR5 memory to take care of graphics files.

The Slim version is very much the same Playstation 4 console that is already in the market. But there’s no incentive at all for current PS4 owners to upgrade to this console.

What can’t the PS4 Pro do? Note that this mostly applies to upcoming games, with some older games (such as “Infamous: First Light”) being grandfathered in.
