Sony’s PlayStation VR set for October release

The PlayStation VR is a headset device that will provide its users with a new dimension to the already immersive virtual reality.

Sony is giving you a few months to save up for its PlayStation VR.

PS VR will let players immerse themselves in a virtual world, and allows 360-degree vision and 3D audio that lets you pinpoint sounds all around you. The Playroom VR will include six games.

At $399, the package is notably less than the $599 price announced by Facebook-owned virtual reality company Oculus Rift.

The head-mounted PS VR headset works in tandem with the PS 4 console, which costs about US$350 depending on the model. While GameStop doesn’t actually have it listed on their U.S. site just yet, it is on their United Kingdom site so it should be available for pre-order in the USA very soon. Oddly, Sony says the Core PlayStation VR Bundle won’t be available for pre-order, so this may be your best chance to guarantee access to the headset ahead of time.

Sony has announce the release of their new product, the PlayStation VR in the Game Developers Conference, yesterday. “We are beyond excited to deliver to consumers the unbelievable experience that PS VR offers”.

The PlayStation VR and Camera, which is sold separately, has to be plugged into a PlayStation 4 system.

Sony confirmed the news in a PlayStation Blog post. Rather, playing current PS4 games on the VR headset will simulate a display, letting users view content on a visual screen for up to a 225-inch width at a distance of 2.5 meters, noted GameSpot.

PS VR will come with ear buds and the cables required to use it. However, it will not be bundled with PlayStation Move controllers or the PlayStation Camera, which costs about $60.
