Sony usually makes changes in the PlayStation only between major releases.

This obviously is true as the Scorpio’s GPU will be clocked at 6 teraflops while the PlayStation 4 Pro only has a GPU clocked at 4.2 teraflops.

Sony revealed two new PlayStation consoles which included a slimmer PS4 and a PS4 Pro – a new generation of PlayStations made for the hardcore gamer. So let’s get started. However, AMD has upgraded the octocore CPU to run at 2.1ghz per core, according to Ars Technica. “The console offers video streaming in 4K quality, supports HDR for both video and gaming making it a great value for money when compared to investing on a 4K bluray player”. Note that this mostly applies to upcoming games, with some older games (such as “Infamous: First Light”) being grandfathered in. Sony priced the Sony PS4 Pro at $399.99, which is $100 more than the new slim Sony PS4.

What can’t the PS4 Pro do? However, the PS4 Pro will not be able to play 4K Blu-ray movies.

Essentially it’s the same console which will play the same games but with boosted innards which are created to push your graphics up to the mystical realms of 4K and also deliver the latest High Dynamic Range visuals.

Firstly, Microsoft has now confirmed the Scorpio will include a UHD drive (capable of playing 4K Blu-Ray discs), which the PS4 Pro doesn’t.

PS4 Pro has the ability to support 4K video playback due to its enhanced components.

Spencer also talked about it will be up to developers to decide if they want to release Scorpio patches, which sounds like the way it will also work on PS4 Pro. But with three consoles now bearing the PS4 name, you might be wondering what the differences are and which one is worth getting.
