Andrew House, President of Sony Interactive Entertainment, stated that the new version of the console (Pro) is specifically created to support 4K TVs, as well as a high dynamic range video. And of course, there’s Sony’s next evolution to prepare for in the form of PS VR – also supported by the PS4 Pro. Pricing will be at $399, which is a hundred dollar more than the new PlayStation 4 Slim edition. The current CUH-2000 series model will get some extended life, as both previous PS4 versions will soon get a download to deliver compatibility with HDR.
“Tonight it’s my pleasure to introduce to you the new Playstation 4 line-up”. It will work between any two PS4 consoles, regardless of the model – original, “slim” or Pro.
We’ll have to wait for the first reviews to see if Sony’s PS4 Pro is a valuable upgrade over the original Playstation 4. More importantly, this PS4 will support High Dynamic Range imaging technology, which is expected to make the graphics more lifelike with a much wider range of colors. In addition to games, PS4 Pro will also feature best in class 4K streaming services, including You Tube and Netflix.
To date, Sony has noted that over 40 million PlayStation consoles have been sold all across the world, outselling Microsoft’s Xbox One and Nintendo’s Wii U.
On the outside, the PS4 Pro looks burly, like a Mayan pyramid.
The PS4 Pro boasts 4K resolution, that’s 4 times better than today’s high definition.

Sony has said the games business is set to be its biggest growth driver, helped by strong PS4 console sales, a rise in subscribers to its PlayStation network and the launch of its virtual reality headset.
