Soon you can install apps directly from the Google results

However, this new feature might not go down well with those who prefer reading user reviews and an app’s information posted on the home page. The codes can also be used for promoting in-app content.

On Android developer forum, Google announced, “Promo codes let [developers]give content or features away to a limited number of users free of charge”.

At this time, Google seems to be limiting the number that can be used per quarter, so don’t expect a developer to run a 24-hour code that is free for thousands upon thousands of people to use. Developers interested in this feature can create the feature with Google Play Developer Console.

Google has failed to come up with an official plan of action for this, but developers found a loophole so they can start offering promo codes to users.

Google does give the app developer complete power over promo codes.

Facebook has been investing on apps that are playable on Android-based systems despite not purchasing them directly from the Google App Store.

To trigger this feature, open the Google app on your Android phone and search for an app. Within the Google card, which would normally direct you to the Play Store, you will now see an Install button.

Google has announced app promo code functionality on Google Play Store.

The small window changes to a traditional-looking Google Play result, giving you a quick summary of the app, its ratings and some screenshots, as well as a button to install. Android developers will finally get to use promo codes to market applications.

Of course, promo codes aren’t exactly new.

This feature isn’t available to everyone at the moment – and only works through the Google app, not Chrome – but the ability to download apps directly from Google’s search results has begun rolling out to some users, according to AndroidPolice.

Choose from the options available, then generate and download your promo codes. The total capacity is about 25,000 people, which would allow for an additional 7,000 developers to attend the Mountain View event. The promotions can last up to one year, and as far as we know, the codes are one-time use.
