What position, for Ohio State, is the one area you feel OU might be able to have the most success against Buckeyes? Coach Urban Meyer says he will have his team ready for the showdown in Norman.

Ohio State (2-0), which topped the all-time chart, is ranked No. 3 nationally this season. The only touchdown scored on the Buckeyes came on an interception return. The Sooners have an opportunity to redeem themselves at home against Ohio State.

Cardale Jones calls out Oklahoma backup quarterback Austin Kendall for referring to Ohio State’s defense as “basic”.

Barrett emerged as a top quarterback in the Big Ten Conference as a redshirt freshman when he was thrust into the role of starter after Heisman hopeful Braxton Miller and guided the Buckeyes to an 10-1 record before suffering a broken ankle in a 42-28 in over MI in the final week of the regular season. They have not shown any signs of slowing down.

Ohio State and Oklahoma are meeting for the third time but the last meeting was back in 1983. The Buckeyes have two very solid cornerbacks, and Oklahoma’s receivers will need to get separation in order to be productive against Ohio State seeing they’ve held opposing quarterbacks to only 47 percent completion rate.

“Curtis Samuel, number four, is a guy that first comes to mind”, Coach Stoops said. Oklahoma’s Baker Mayfield threw for 3,700 yards and finished fourth in the Heisman Trophy voting last fall, one spot above where Barrett was in that voting in 2014, his only full season as a starter.

Ohio State’s defense has not allowed an offensive touchdown in two games. He’s found more than a few interested parties, Oklahoma being one of the biggest to invite him for a visit. IL is averaging four sacks a game, and Carroll Phillips is tied for the FBS lead with 6.5 tackles for loss.

“They do a great job”, Sooners coach Bob Stoops said when asked about the dangerousness of the Buckeyes. Both have a running back’s skills.

Samuel is on pace to produce 2,406 all-purpose yards in the regular season, which would rank second in school history behind Keith Byars (2,441 in 1984). He has 162 yards on the ground on 21 carries averaging 7.7 yards per carry. Nick Basquine led in receiving with 80 yards and a touchdown in three catches while Mark Andrews had 60 yards and a touchdown in two receptions.

Heavy is a bit more bullish on Ohio State’s chances in the game. The team is now number 14 in the Top 25 AP polls.

Oklahoma’s defense took another step forward during a 59-17 win over Louisiana-Monroe last Saturday.

Baker Mayfield will be leading the charge against the Ohio State Buckeyes. This year he has passed for 567 yards and five touchdowns without an interception.

Chances are good OSU winning that game will require Barrett to make plays with his arm and his feet. Oklahoma is home, but Ohio State is a 1-point favorite, and you can rest assured Ohio State’s defense will remember this comment. The Sooners want to establish the run game with the bruising style Samaje Perine provides, complemented by the quickness, elusiveness and dramatic change of pace that you get with Joe Mixon.
