(AP) – Baker Mayfield threw two touchdown passes and ran for another score and No. 5 Oklahoma beat No. 9 Oklahoma State 58-23 on Saturday night to take the Big 12 title and likely a spot in the College Football Playoff. With that said, Oklahoma is now the only team in the nation who has their ticket to the playoff punched. Miketavius Jones made a nice effort to keep Ross out of the end zone on his big return, but that’s the only nice thing we can say about that play. “It’s about getting better each practice and each game; our leaders and captains are doing a great job of keeping us focused and stressing the fact that we haven’t played our best game yet”.

“I felt they would pay off. I expected them to”, Stoops said. TCU suffered a 20-point loss at Oklahoma State the first weekend in November and lost its leading receiver, Josh Doctson, to a wrist injury in the process. The Sooners had two touchdown runs of 66 yards or more, along with another that went for 25 yards.
“That was tough on him to make that decision”, Mayfield said, “But he made a very, very good one”.

Mayfield, a junior who transferred from Texas Tech, is third in the country in passing efficiency, second in yards per attempt and tied for fifth in passing touchdowns. The Sooners were just playing a different game in the first half. He’s the fourth running back under Stoops to surpass 3,000 career yards and the 10th in program history.
