Sophie Pascoe wins second gold of Rio 2016, breaks own world record
This is Pascoe’s third medal of the Rio 2016 Paralympic Games, after winning gold yesterday in the Women’s 100m Backstroke S10 and silver the day before in the Women’s 50m Freestyle S10 after posting a personal best time.

Ejike achieved her feat in astonishing style as she shattered the Paralymics and World record three successive times to dominate the women’s -61kg event in powerlifting.
Apart from the medal won in athletics by Onye, all the medals won by Team Nigeria came from Powerlifting with hope for more medals in the event.
China’s Lili Hu claimed Silver with a lift of 135kg, while her compatriot Taipei’s Tzu-Hui Lin left to late to win Bronze with her very last attempt. For India, given the treatment meted out to Olympic athletes/medal-winners vis-a-vis Paralympics ones, the answer is an unfortunate “yes”.
Much of the success has been down to dominance on the powerlifting benches.
Great Britain won the gold, while New Zealand’s newest tandem pairing of Amanda Cameron and Hannah van Kampen finished fourth.
They were part of a historic day for GB’s rowers on Sunday as they took three gold medals and a bronze.
Ejike’s gold added to Paul Kehinde, who also broke a world record by lifting 220kg when winning the 65kg men’s category, and Roland Ezuruike, who had triumphed on Friday and set a new Paralympic record in the 54kg category.

The victory is Pascoe’s second of Rio 2016, and she also has a silver. Cao Ningning won the Gold.
