Sore loser? Trump accuses Cruz of ‘stealing’ Iowa caucus

Trump, who owns Trump National Golf Club, Hudson Valley, in Stormville, still holds 30 percent of the vote from likely Republican primary voters in New Hampshire, including those who are undecided yet leaning toward a candidate or who have voted absentee. Rep. Steve King (R-Iowa), for example, a prominent Cruz surrogate, wrote on Twitter: “Carson looks like he is out”.

After accepting his second-place finish at the Iowa caucuses with uncharacteristic grace but calling the result an “honor”, Donald Trump accused rival Ted Cruz on Wednesday of having won the contest through fraud. The real estate mogul argued for a “new election” or for the Texas senator’s results to be “nullified”.

But any humility was fleeting as Mr Trump went on to say he beat Mr Rubio by getting support from nearly 3,000 Iowans – “That’s a lot of people” – and that he had gotten a larger percentage of support than any other Republican candidate in history “except for that one number”, he added, referring to Mr Cruz’s win.

Meanwhile, Ben Carson hit CNN for what he said was an inaccurate report that he was leaving the race on Monday.

Before a rally in New Hampshire on Tuesday, Trump admitted his decision to boycott Fox News’ GOP debate may have cost him in the caucuses.

“After his strong showing in Iowa last night, momentum is breaking his way, and it has become abundantly clear that Marco Rubio is the best candidate for our party”.

“Many people voted for Cruz over Carson because of this Cruz fraud”, Trump tweeted.

Campaigning in Goffstown Ted Cruz said that Donald Trump is “losing it” because he can’t handle having been beaten in the Iowa caucus.

Cruz’s campaign did not immediately respond to requests for comment on Trump’s accusations.

“And I think they will in this case”, he said. Several social media users tweeted screengrabs of an alleged deleted tweet from Trump’s official account, in which he said Cruz had “illegally” stolen the vote.
