Sound Off: ‘Mission: Impossible – Rogue Nation’ – Your Thoughts?

Rotten Tomatoes praises Tom Cruise in his role as lead actor and anchor for the long-running franchise, saying “Mission: Impossible Rogue Nation continues the franchise’s thrilling resurgence – and proves that Tom Cruise remains an action star without equal”.

But top agent Ethan Hunt (Tom Cruise) and his boss, William Brandt (Jeremy Renner), have no intention of knuckling under as they think they are close to cracking the ruthless Syndicate, a global terrorist organization bent on chaos and catastrophe. While Ilsa saves Hunt, she also has obvious ulterior motives, and it’s hard to guess what’s driving her ambitions, even as Ethan wants to trust her. He is now on a mission to try to shut down the mysterious syndicate and its leader, who is always one step ahead of him. The motorcycle chase that happens in the second act of the film, involving bikes driving on a road at speeds from 170 -200 miles per hour!!!

“It was awesome and it was really exciting to get the opportunity to work with a stunt team”.

Cruise told, “I pitched it to McQuarrie and Doug”.

Would I compare the “Mission: Impossible” franchise to the Jason Bourne films? The other films were released in 2000, 2006 and 2011. In this movie, Cruise will perform all of the stunts.

New cast member Rebecca Ferguson absolutely sizzles with sexuality and suppressed emotion and Alec Baldwin is priceless.

“Creating a female equal for Ethan was job one”, he said.

Ferguson is attractive, but for the most part the film does not overplay that card; another reason to praise the director and producers.
