The 2-year-old boy was riding in the back seat of his great-aunt’s vehicle Sunday afternoon in Rock Hill, when he managed to grab her loaded.

The boy found the gun, which was hanging in a pouch on the back of the passenger seat and shot his grandmother, who was sitting in the passenger seat.
According to WCNC News, the owner of the gun is speaking out after her weapon was found by the toddler.
They were coming through the light at Ogden Road and Heckle Boulevard when the woman heard the gun go off. The toddler promptly pulled the trigger, shooting one bullet through the seat in front of him and into the back of his 40-year-old grandmother, local police told Charlotte television station WSOC. None of the individuals involved have been named, and the grandmother’s injuries are reportedly not life-threatening.
A Rock Hill Police spokesman said Tuesday that no charges have been filed and the case remains under investigation.
‘This mistake could’ve happened to anyone. They recommend all gun owners have a safety lock, which you can get at the police department for free. That’s why I have my weapon in an accessible position.
