South Carolina Gov. Nikki Haley endorses Marco Rubio

“I don’t know that he’s going to do that, by the way”, he said. Both have at one point delivered the Republican response to President Obama’s State of the Union address: Rubio in 2013, when he took what is now an infamous sip of water, and Haley in 2016.

Gov. Nikki Haley said Thursday she hoped she and presidential candidate Marco Rubio are the new face of the conservative movement in the Republican Party.

“She embodies and exemplifies what I want the Republican Party to be known as in the 21st century: vibrant, reform-oriented, optimistic, upwardly mobile”.

“I wanted somebody with fight, I wanted somebody with passion, I wanted somebody who had the conviction to do the right thing, but I wanted somebody humble enough to remember he works for all the people”, Haley said.

Haley introduced the Florida senator at an event Wednesday night in Lexington County, saying he’s a compassionate fighter who will “show my parents the best decision they ever made for their children was coming to America”.

“Anything short of a first-place finish in SC for Marco Rubio is a loss”, argued Jason Miller, a senior adviser for Cruz’s campaign, Politico reported.

Gesturing to her black leather stiletto boots, Haley added, “I wear heels – it’s not for a fashion statement, it’s cause you got to be prepared to kick at any time“.

Rubio has also been endorsed by Republican politicians in SC such as Sen. Haley had spoken out, however, against Trump and has been critical of his stances on immigration.

While Rubio is struggling after a poor performance in the New Hampshire primary, his endorsement could be just the boost he needs before voting begins on Saturday.

If Haley was looking for a horse to ride to victory on Saturday, she chose the wrong candidate.

Bush has repeatedly sung Haley’s praises, even hinting that he would pick her as his vice presidential nominee should he be the choice of voters as the Republican nominee.

More than 300 pastors and other religious leaders in SC have endorsed Texas Sen.

Before Wednesday, Haley’s endorsement was in high demand.

Nikki Haley said she wants a president who is going to have the backs of military veterans, and those in active duty.

Her endorsement gives Rubio the backing of three of the state’s most prominent, and popular, elected officials – Rep. Trey Gowdy and Sen. Bush sits in fourth in polls with several recent surveys putting him behind Ohio Gov. John Kasich in fifth. At the time, Haley thanked Bush for helping her win the job in 2010, his assistance in putting together a transition team ahead of taking office and his advice since.

Newt Gingrich ultimately bested Romney, but Haley’s endorsement might carry more weight in this election cycle.
