South Carolina HS student shot in cafeteria, 4 schools on lockdown

The student has been transported to the hospital via EMS.

All students are secure inside the building, the station reports.

The school was awarded the 2015 Greenville County Schools High School Safety Award that focuses on prevention of employee and student injuries.

A Greenville, S.C. high school was placed on lockdown Friday after a student accidentally shot himself inside the cafeteria, school officials say. Brotherton says the student is conscious and is with the principal and school nurse.

School district officials say students are being allowed back into a Greenville, South Carolina, high school where one student was wounded in a shooting.

Drew Pinciaro with the Greenville County Sheriff’s Office said that no active search was underway and that no arrests had been made.

Kerns Elementary are on lockdown following the incident.
