The Bathroom Bill implies that individuals who identify as transgender are not allowed to use restrooms, locker rooms or intimate public places of the gender that they identify with, but rather, only use the restrooms of the biological sex that individual was born with.

A SC bill limiting transgender people’s bathroom choices is up for discussion a week after Republican Gov. Nikki Haley and state business leaders called the proposal unnecessary.

Even if the House were to pass the bill this year, it would be highly unlikely to pass the Democratic-Farmer-Labor Party-controlled Senate, and Gov. Mark Dayton has promised to veto it. Minnesota’s governor banned state employees from nonessential travel to North Carolina until further notice, and the president of the National Collegiate Athletic Association warned that if the law stands “it will affect the state’s chances to host major college athletic events”.

Bright’s bill is largely mirroring a similar bill that was signed into law in North Carolina in March. As mentioned above, it was passed in response to a legal ordinance in Charlotte that protected peoples’ right to use the bathroom they felt most comfortable using with regard to their gender identity. ‘I mean, years ago we kept talking about tolerance, tolerance, and tolerance, and now they want men who claim to be women to be able to go into bathrooms with children.

Evangelist Franklin Graham brought his state capitol prayer rally tour to MS in the wake of lawmakers passing a bill that would let churches and some private businesses deny services to gay, lesbian, bisexual and transgender people.

Tuesday’s hearing featured testimony from 12 opponents and nine supporters of the bathroom bill, in front of a capacity audience of around 135 people. The State Board of Education was preparing some guidelines for schools on the matter and a Republican legislator sees an opportunity to pander to bigots.

The University of North Carolina will comply with the state’s House Bill 2. “You get to a point in your life and say, well, this is what’s important to me”, Lane said.

Evangelist Franklin Graham says same-sex marriage is a “great sin”, but in America today many moral decisions are being made on the basis of “what’s good for business”.

‘And so I’ll tell you that law has worked perfectly.

“This bill is an undisguised attack on some of our most talented and most vulnerable citizens”, Columbia Mayor Steve Benjamin said, adding it would cause irreparable economic damage.

“I find it incredibly disappointing, embarrassing and sad that bills like this are the priority of this committee and this House majority”, said Rep. Jon Applebaum, DFL-Minnetonka.

In an interview with BuzzFeed News on Wednesday, the singer, who publicly came out as transgender in 2012, said, “I’m going to create an event around the show as a form of protest to say that despite whatever stupid laws they enact, trans people are not going to be scared”.
