South Korea prepares for ‘worst case’ with North
An unused tunnel at the Punggye-ri test site can be the place for the sixth test, reports said.

The warning of additional test is based on three tunnels excavated at Punggye-ri near which all of its underground nuclear tests were conducted.
“The crux of the Korean nuclear issue lies not in China but in the U.S.as this issue is nothing but conflict between the DPRK and the U.S.”, China Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Hua Chunying said at a briefing in Beijing on Monday, using an acronym for North Korea.
Mulling over their neighbours actions, South Korean military source told Yonhap News Agency on Sunday said that it plans to annihilate Pyongyang if N Korea shows any signs of mounting a nuclear attack.
Hwang said during a meeting that North Korea’s “fanatical development of nuclear arms and missiles would become the poison that would hasten the destruction of its regime rather than consolidate it”.
Seoul, Washington and their allies vowed to apply more pressure and sanctions after the test, the second this year. A council statement pledged to work on “appropriate measures” in response.
One possibility is that China could try to broker a deal to freeze North Korea’s development of new missiles and warheads as part of the USA and South Korea suspending joint military exercises, Tong said.
It has also experimented with submarine-launched ballistic missiles – potentially meaning it could sneak up on Britain or the USA and fire an apocalypse rocket from the water. The United States, Britain and France pushed for the 15-member body to impose new sanctions.
However, Pyongyang has dismissed the US’ threats and continued to blame the States for North Korea’s need for nuclear weapons.
It said the United States was “the root cause” of the issue.
The ministry insisted that North Korea will continue to increase its nuclear force in quality and quantity, adding that this was necessary to “safeguard the dignity” and “right to exist” of the DPRK.
North Korea’s propaganda machine, for its part, has kept up its typical anti-Seoul threats and crude insults against Park, calling her “hideous confrontation manic” and “the Korean nation’s biggest trouble-maker”.

While doubts remain over North Korea’s claim that it can now mount nuclear warheads on ballistic rockets – meaning it can carry out a nuclear attack – experts say the recent progress is worrying.
