South Korea readies to wipe Pyongyang off the face of Earth

The three countries are pushing for tough new U.N. Security Council sanctions on North Korea after the isolated country on Friday conducted its fifth and largest nuclear test.

“Increasing sanctions and adding missile defenses in South Korea to that mix will also not suffice and make China even less likely to cooperate”, he said, referring to the deployment of the us -made anti-ballistic missile system known as THAAD to South Korea, a move China protests.

The B-1B bombers out of Guam did an overflight near Seoul on Tuesday morning as a response to North Korea’s nuclear test.

“Any sanction, provocation and pressure can not ruin our status as a nuclear state and evil political and military provocations will only result in a flood of reckless nuclear attacks that will bring a final destruction”, said KCNA.

He said that if Pyongyang is really ready to talk about denuclearization, it can be discussed through six-party talks, but the US diplomat noted that the DPRK showed no interest in dialogue as it conducted unprecedented provocations.

“North Korea’s nuclear test is a risky escalation and poses an unacceptable threat”, Gen. Vincent K. Brooks, U.S. Forces Korea commander, said in a statement Tuesday. It has nevertheless warned that such “reckless provocations” should stop.

China urged restraint among all parties.

Spokeswoman Hua Chunying told a press conference late Tuesday that China viewed as counterproductive any unilateral action based on one’s self-interest, which will not help resolve security concerns “but will only aggravate the tension, complicate the issue, and make the situation more difficult”.

North Korea has been testing nuclear weapons and ballistic missiles at an unprecedented rate this year under young leader Kim Jong Un.

North Korean media said it was the worst single case of downpours and high winds since 1945 with more than 35,500 houses, schools and public buildings damaged, widespread inundation of farmland and at least 140,000 people in urgent need of assistance.

The two Koreas remain technically at war after their 1950-53 conflict ended in a truce, not a peace treaty.

North Korea countered Wednesday that it was the USA that was inflaming tensions. The divide over the missile system, not to mention an array of other disputes between China, its neighbors, and the United States, will make a united front against Kim Jong-un’s latest provocation hard to build.

North Korea frequently responds to U.S.

“It’s a question of North Korean intentions and commitment”.

South Korea’s Defence Ministry says it’s only a matter of time before the DPRK carries out a sixth nuclear test.
