“There is no difference between South Korea and China on the possibility of additional provocations by North Korea”, said a senior Ministry of Foreign Affairs official.

“Going nuclear armed is the policy of our state”, Ri, who has been foreign minister since May, told the world gathering.

He was referring to the THAAD missile defense system that the US plans to deploy to South Korea to defend against North Korean missile threats.

The three countries discussed work in the Security Council to tighten the sanctions and the possibility of taking measures of their own to restrict revenue sources for the North’s missile and nuclear programs.

He pointed out that North Korea is estimated to have spent at least $200 million US dollars for this year’s nuclear tests and missile firings, which could have been used for humanitarian causes within the country.

South Korean troops are reportedly on standby to “eliminate” North Korea’s leader Kim Jong-un, should they feel threatened by their nuclear weapons.

Discussions are already under way on a possible new United Nations sanctions resolution on North Korea after its latest nuclear test.

North Korea successfully tested a nuclear warhead on September 9 for the second time this year and overall has completed five such tests.

South Korea’s foreign minister explained that the North is “totally ridiculing the authority of the General Assembly and the Security Council” through its repeated violations of resolutions and global norms. This response included the deployment of strategic assets to the Korean peninsula, which involved two B-1B USA supersonic nuclear-capable bombers. “As we’ve made clear, measures to strengthen the national nuclear power in quality and quantity will continue to protect our dignity and right to live from augmented threats of nuclear war from the United States.”

In addition, the leadership tested a new type of a high-powered rocket engine that could possibly be used for an intercontinental ballistic missile this week.

Tension between North and South Korea is nothing new, but things are really coming to a head of late.

Ri dismissed the Security Council resolutions as unfair. KMPR involves surgical missile attacks and an exclusive special warfare unit that targets North Korea’s leadership.
