South Korean wife charged with raping her husband for 29 hours
She allegedly raped her spouse to obtain favourable evidence which she planned to use in divorce proceedings, according to the prosecutors. The lawsuit makes South Korean history twice with Shin being the first to be indicted since the law was passed two years ago and the accused being a woman.

The 23-year-old, only identified by his surname Kim, is accused of burning the flag during the April 18 rally in downtown Seoul and damaging a police vehicle, the Seoul Central Prosecutors’ Office said. The Supreme Court only ruled back in May of 2013 that spousal rape is grievous enough to be deemed a crime. On Tuesday, a South Korean Court punished a woman who was charged of forcing her husband to have sex with her. The woman tied him up and hit him with a hammer.
How an instance of a wife raping her husband led to prosecutors in South Korea taking action after having previously declined to recognize marital rape.

The United Nations estimated in 2011 that 127 countries had not amended legislation to criminalise marital rape. The list includes India, Afghanistan, Pakistan and the Bahamas, reports The Independent.
