Southampton stars who could hurt Arsenal on Saturday

Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger says he did not see the replays of Fonte’s foul on Giroud.

Wenger last lifted the Premier League trophy in 2004, with dazzling performances undermined by untimely slumps in form over the subsequent decade of near and not-so-near misses.

“He is uncomfortable to play against”, Mustafi said.

Mesut said that he’s happy here, that the people are insane for football and that it’s a team that enjoys playing football the way that he does, and the way that I do.

Apart from a late Shane Long shot in the second half, the defensive pairing of Koscielny and Mustafi were pretty convincing.

Jay Rodriguez meanwhile, who appears to have finally overcome his own long-running fitness woes, netted the equaliser in a 1-1 draw at home to Sunderland last time out.

Arsenal’s European campaign begins on Tuesday with a Champions League game at Paris Saint-Germain.

Arsenal didn’t have a very good start to the Premier League 2016-17 season as they now have one win out of their three games this time around. “I haven’t spoken to them but it’s very swollen”, Wenger said.

“When you lose the first home game you can not afford to drop points in the second”. They were a bit surprised by the pace and the commitment of the Premier League [but] they will adapt to that. Although they were able to claw back a point against Watford and Sunderland at home they never looked like getting back in the game at Old Trafford.

Wenger didn’t give any update on the South American at his pre-match press conference on Friday morning and I don’t expect Gabriel to be in contention to face the Saints on Saturday afternoon. It’s possible they are in the squad.

Laurent Koscielny’s goal on his birthday was an icing on the cake, in what was a very good defensive display on a personal front for the defender.

Speaking about his fellow Frenchman, Puel said: “Before signing for Southampton I spoke with him about the possibilities to coach in England”.
