As of Wednesday morning hundreds of homes have burned near El Cajon Pass, a mountain area east of Los Angeles.
Governor Jerry Brown declared a state of emergency for San Bernardino County in response to the Blue Cut fire. Mike McGuire said about last year’s wildfire, which killed four people and destroyed more than 1,300 homes.
These fires have claimed lots of homes and also killed eight people, but the officials warn they should expect more wildfires because Southern California’s customary fire season doesn’t start until fall when the scorching Santa Ana winds arrive.
LA Times has Pashilk being investigated by authorities for arsons for a year, but I’m not entirely sure the Times has it right.
The devastating fire, which destroyed several structures and homes including the historic Summit Inn at the top of the Cajon Pass – quickly exploded, consuming 30,000 acres, or almost 47 square miles, in less than 24 hours. But fire officials say several firefighters had to shelter in place while trying to save a home as the fire raced through a neighborhood. Cancilla still doesn’t know the fate of his own home. Little was known about him, other than his history of drug and driving offenses dating back a decade.
“I don’t believe it”, she said. Cal Fire Chief Ken Pimlott said Pashilk had been under investigation for about a year. “The signs standards are rigorous”, forestry section spokeswoman Janet Upton said. “They have to build a case that is going to be successful, it’s complex”.
An attorney listed as representing Pashilk did not return a call requesting comment.
Pashilk will go before a judge Wednesday. A California man was arrested Monday on arson charges for allegedly sparking a wildfire that.
Roughly 1,600 firefighters were making progress on the blaze as it burned through wilderness.
The 15 Freeway was shut down shortly after the fire was first spotted around 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, west of the southbound lanes near Kenwood Avenue.
For the past couple of days, the all-out effort had stopped the advance of the fire.
Throughout the afternoon, helicopters pulled water from the local lake there and departed to dump it on hills marked by pockets of deep-red flames. He had issued emergency declarations on Monday for the Clayton Fire and another in Central California, the Chimney Fire.
“An evacuation order can save your life, leave as soon as evacuations orders are given by fire and law enforcement officials to avoid being caught in fire, smoke or road congestion”.
The ski resort of Wrightwood and portions of several highways were closed.
