One B.C. resident said they thought a tree had fallen on the house.
CBS SF noted that data gathered from the U.S. Geological Survey said that two quakes actually struck both ends of the state and each had a magnitude of over 4.0. There were no injuries or damage but power was for a time knocked out to some 4,500 homes in the region.
Vancouver’s transit authority briefly shut down some of its Skytrain routes, to make sure there was no damage to elevated tracks. Such a quake is capable of causing minor damage.
Police on Vancouver Island and along the coast report high call volumes following the natural disaster, but no reports of damage.
Still, people took to social media in the aftermath to share their experience.
Tuesday’s early-morning quake was followed by several three-point aftershocks all Tuesday afternoon and evening.
Quake experiences can instead be registered through the Earthquakes Canada website. “We gain more insight into what happened and what may happen in the future”, she said.
Aftershocks in that quake were felt from one end of Vancouver Island to the other and parts of Metro Vancouver and the Fraser Valley.
